Brandon's mom is a good friend of mine and asked if I would be willing to take some photos of him and his date before prom as well as a few in his cap and gown. Of course, I said YES! Who doesn't love a good prom photo? I can't say that Brandon was too excited to have his photos taken but that didn't stop me from trying. We had a good time trying to make him laugh! Prom pics between "just friends" make it a little harder but I was happy with what we ended up with. Enjoy!

As with many senior guy sessions, Corey wasn't too thrilled about having his senior pictures taken. We had done a studio session for the yearbook back in December so this session was all about what Mom wanted...at first. By the end of the session, Corey was having fun and throwing out ideas! They have this fabulous old pole barn behind their house that is a photographer's dream! Corey's Dad agreed to pull out his old car for a few shots as well. So much fun!

I am shooting a cover of Columbus Parent Magazine on THIS Wednesday from 1:00-3:00 at Sycamore Creek Park. (Yes, it will be COLD but it's the only time that we can do it!) I need 5 teens for the cover so I am opening it up to anyone who can make it to be a part of the shoot. We will just shuffle teens in and out of shots to get a bunch of different options. Sneak Peek: Katelyn- Class of 2010

I met up with High School Senior Katelyn for a senior photo shoot last week at Creekside Park in Gahanna. We had a lot of fun and bonded over our love of hair dye! Katelyn is in theater and will be pursuing a career in acting in the future so we wanted to show off her personality in these photos. Two of her best friends joined us in the end to get some shots together. So much fun!

I can't wait to introduce you to my most recent senior client. Sarah is a senior at Westerville Central and let me tell you...this is a face you will want to remember! Sarah is so amazingly talented! We met up at Inniswood Gardens for an evening session to take advantage of the yummy evening light. Sarah brought along her guitar to include in some of the shots so I asked her to play a bit while we shooting. Let me tell you, she is amazing!! She WILL be famous one day...remember this gorgeous face!

This was such a fun session! Abby is one of my Senior Reps for this year and since we did her rep session way back in the early Spring (in the 44 degree wind and sleet!), she decided to do another session this fall. I met up with Abby, her mom, and her sister (AKA Abby's stylist) at one of my favorite locations for an evening shoot. Abby isn't a huge fan of dressing up and being all girlie but you wouldn't know it from the images. She looks GORGEOUS and totally rocked her dresses during this shoot! We incorporated her love of art and yoga into a few shots as well. :-)

Sneak Peek: Kayla- Class of 2010 Rep {Columbus Senior Photographer}

Okay, so this very rarely happens but I was so excited with this shoot that I just had to start editing them right away which means...I can post Kayla's sneak peeks today! Kayla and I talked about what kind of feeling she wanted for this session and we decided to go with a country theme for this first rep session and then go urban for her next session later in the fall. When we go country...WE GO COUNTRY! Kayla did such an amazing job and totally rocked the shoot. Enjoy your sneak peek, Kayla! Can't wait to shoot with you again soon!

Oh, and one more to share. I got a new funky lens yesterday and just had to try it out on this shoot. It will take a little getting used to but I am IN LOVE with this shot of Kayla! It is so funky and fits her personality to a T! :-)

I was going through files on my computer and realized I never really posted sneak peeks from this session with Wes. When we shot these photos in the spring, I just thought it would be a fun little session with the boy next door (literally...he is my next door neighbor!), but it turned out to be so much more than that. Wes has been skating for as long as I have known him. I had no idea he was so good in his element! He had a good time showing off his skills and I had a great time with a fun, creative shoot!

This was such a fun session! I met up with Kyle, his mom, and his girlfriend Liz for a rock inspired shoot near campus. Kyle spends much of his time at the Newport, so we thought that would be a great place to start. I can honestly say, this location will go down as a favorite! Despite being yelled at and called every name in the book by a drunk-schizophrenic-homeless man, it was a great time. Kyle brought along his amazing Les Paul guitar to use as a prop...gorgeous!! Kyle and Liz were so cute together that we just had to snap a few of them cuddling together. Ahhh...young love! Enjoy, guys!

Sneak Peek: Jordan - Class of 2010

Meet Jordan, a senior at Franklin Heights High School. She is one of our senior reps and this was her second session. We had an adventurous shoot! We went to Creekside in Gahanna to do the shoot. The weather was absolutely beautiful, and not to mention very warm! My intern Andrea came along as well and did some second-shooting with her own camera. Sneak Peek: Cenestra- Class of 2010

This was such a fun session! I seriously think we were laughing the whole time! Cenestra was up for anything which always makes senior sessions so much more fun. She was willing to brave the river and a dress, climb out onto a drainage pipe in a winter coat, and balance in a tiny window way above a rushing river. Okay, so I added the "rushing" river for effect...it was more like a stagnant river- even worse! Sorry to make you "wait so long" for your sneak peeks! Enjoy!

Meet Madison...a Class of 2010 senior from New Albany High School. This was such a fun shoot! We were supposed to be shooting Last Wednesday evening but due to the unseasonably chilly weather and constant threat of rain, we decided to re-schedule and it couldn't have been a better idea! Thursday morning was gorgeous! We met up in the Short North (one of my fav spots for senior photos!) and just wandered around...shooting everywhere we could think of. Madison is a runner (which just amazes me considering I feel like I am dying if I run more than a mile) so she wanted some shots of her in her cleats. Okay, sure...nothing new...until she pulls out these fabulous HOT PINK cleats! I'm telling you, it almost made me wish I was a runner! (I said, almost!) :-)

My car was broken into...

I just wanted to let everyone know that our car was broken into yesterday (on Mother's Day of all days!) and they took everything. I have no phone, wallet, credit cards, ID, etc. So...if you have called me or sent me a text, I haven't gotten it. PLEASE email me at amy@babystepsstudios.com instead of calling the phone number. Also...this took place at the Pickerington Ponds Metro Park around 4:00 Sunday afternoon. It was a smash and grab job. They made off with over $1800 in charges on several different cards while we were canceling them. PLEASE PROTECT YOURSELVES!! I am always careful about leaving things in the car when I am in "iffy" places but this was in broad daylight in a Pickerington park. I thought we were safe. We were within viewing distance of the vehicle the whole time...we just weren't watching the car. PLEASE BE CAREFUL!!

I met up with Sergio and his friend Jordan (another rep who you will meet soon), to do a quick Senior Rep shoot on Wednesday. It was a little chilly but considering it is wasn't freezing cold and raining, I can't complain. It took a few minutes to get Sergio warmed up to the idea of posing but by the half way point, he was modeling like a pro! I just had to point to a location and he did the rest. This was the first of my Senior Rep sessions for the Class of 2010 and let me tell you...we were not prepared for what Mother Nature dealt us! We were out shooting yesterday afternoon in the 30 degree wind chill, with freezing rain and tons of wind! So not cool but Abby did an amazing job! We met down by the Riverfront and found a ton of great places to shoot. After that, we went over by CCAD for a couple more shots. I think that area is going to become one of my favorites! Calling all Class of 2010

Okay, all you Juniors out there...we are looking for a few good kids to be reps for the Class of 2010 with The Next Step Studios. If you are looking for a new spin on your senior photos, then this is the place to go.

All of our sessions are done on-location at (just about) any location of your choice. If you are an earthy spirit, we can shoot at a local park, at a lake, in a river, in the middle of cornfields etc. If you are more of a urban spirit, we can shoot downtown, in the Short North, the Arena District, etc. Each senior session will be completely different because we will build the session around you. This is not the "stand in front of the big '10 and pose" kind of senior photos but rather a new high fashion take on your photos. We have experience working with all kinds modeling sessions and use that to make your session a great experience. Who doesn't want to be a model for a day?

So, now that I've got your attention, you wanna hear the details of the *SENIOR REP* position?

If you are selected to be *SENIOR REP* for us, you will receive a FREE mini senior photo session taking place anytime between now and April 30th. From this mini session, you will receive rep cards with your name and photo on them along with our info. You pass these cards out to all your friends...drum up some interest...and refer your friends to The Next Step Studios. You will also receive a proof book from your session that is yours to keep along with 8 of our favorite photos from your session sized and watermarked for use on your Myspace and Facebook pages. For each senior you refer to us, you will receive a complimentary set of 8 wallets of your choice. The *SENIOR REP* who refers the most seniors to us (who complete a senior session), will receive $100 CASH as a bonus!

Sneak Peek: "Rico- Class of 09"

This session was one for the record books! Rico and I met up at Blacklick Woods along with his Mom, Girlfriend, Sister, and my intern Amie on Monday for a senior session. Let me just tell you...it was COLD! It was 12 degrees and with windchill it had to be below zero! We took some quick shots then warmed back up int he cars before heading out for more. Looking through the film, you wouldn't know it, though. Rico did such a great job! The cold wasn't the only thing we dealt with...the wildlife wasn't too thrilled to see us. We watched a 20 pound Raccoon fall out of a 30 foot tall tree about 5 feet away from us. It was too crazy! Anyway...we got some great shots out of the whole day, so it was worth it. I have been so busy with the Baby Steps side of the business these last couple months, that I completely forgot to upload the October cover. Columbus Parent wanted a more mature look for this cover to encourage parents of high school age kids to pick up the mag to read the college guide, so they chose a photo of one of my 2009 seniors. Adam is a senior at Pickerington Central and did an amazing job on the shoot. This photo was just perfect for a magazine cover!

Sneak Peek: "Kaitlyn & Taylor- Class of 09" (part 2)

My senior reps, Kaitlyn and Taylor, met up with me this weekend for a whirl-wind fall senior session. It was a little chilly outside but these girls were amazing as always! It is so much fun shooting with these two because they just feed off of each other the whole time. Kaitlyn will do a pose and then Taylor jumps up saying "Oh, I wanna do that one!" and vice versa. I think everyone should come to senior sessions as a pair. Maybe I will offer that as a special next year...BFF sessions anyone? Thanks for being such troopers, guys!

Sneak Peek: "Drew- Class of 2009"

I had such a great time with Drew at this senior session! She was such a fun girl with a great wardrobe! We had quite an interesting time...watching a man get arrested, being attacked by killer bugs, avoiding catcalls from gross men, and causing quite a scene in the Short North. I had such a great time at this session with Evan and his Mom last week. He is such a great kid...polite, considerate, creative, and TALL! I'm pretty tall at 5'10" so it's not often that I have to look up at my clients to shoot them but that was definitely the case with Evan. I must have commented 2o times about how tall he was! Evan had a ton of great (albeit challenging) ideas for his photos so he really kept me on my toes! He plays basketball, runs track, and plays the viola so it was fun to come up with ways to incorporate all of his activities into his session. We really did have a great time shooting! The Fresh Faces Search is on!

I am in need of a few tweens/teens to add to my portfolio and possibly use on future covers of Columbus Parent Magazine. I am looking for a couple boys and girls between the ages of 10-14 who will be available to shoot on a Monday or Wednesday evening at 4:00 in the next couple weeks. Children should be outgoing, willing to take direction, and photogenic. These sessions will have an urban feel to them with a nod to Limited Too, abercrombie kids, and Gap Kids ads.

I will have complete control over the direction of these shoots and will provide ideas for clothing selection as well. These sessions will be done complimentary to those children that are selected with no obligation to purchase prints. You will have the opportunity to purchase prints after the session if you would like.

Sneak Peek: "Mariah- Class of 09"

I had such a great time on this session with Mariah. We both have that same dry, cynical, sarcastic sense of humor that we just clicked. Although, I must say I did feel super old when she started using words that I had never heard of! Am I really that old? I watch Gossip Girl and One Tree Hill...come on! ;-)

Mariah is one of those girls that is quite possibly one of the most gorgeous girls I have met, but yet she has no clue that she is beautiful! She could totally rock America's Next Top Model if she had the confidence to try out! I am so excited about these sneak peeks. Hopefully she will be able to look at them and see what everyone else can see. Here ya go, Mariah!

Sneak Peek: Buck Creek Modeling Shoot

I attended my second ever group photo shoot this weekend at Buck Creek Park in Springfield, Ohio. About 20 other photographers and 30 or so models got together to spend an entire day in the sun just shooting for the sake of making art. It was so much fun! I, of course, had to have a theme in mind for my shoots so I went with a high fashion editorial feel to my sessions. Jackie (my nanny and good friend) helped with all the styling, wardrobing, makeup and hair for the shoot. All of the models did a great job even though my style was a little out of the ordinary compared to all the swimsuit shoots that were going on around us. We were shooting from 10:00 am until about 8:30 so it was a FULL day! I am so exhausted today but it was so worth it! I am posting my three favorite shots of each girl. There were 9 models that I shot with so you do the math; it's a lot of photos but I just have to share them anyway! There are plenty more great photos to send to the girls but here is just a taste of my day.

Sneak Peek: Amanda- Class of 09 (PART 2)

I met up with Amanda last night to shoot part 2 of her senior session. Since Amanda really wanted railroad tracks and we weren't able to find any easily accessible railroad tracks last week, we decided to meet up at one of my *secret locations* (yeah, like it is really a secret!) and shoot a mini session to complete her senior photos. We had such a great time shooting! It's always so much easier the second time around. I would just point to a location and she would go and do her thing! Ahhh...this is the life! :-) Enjoy!

I had so much fun shooting with Amanda yesterday! She came prepared with 2 totes filled with clothes, shoes, and accessories which made my job so easy! Amanda purchased the Deluxe session which got her 3-4 hours with multiple locations, so we had plenty of time to explore the various locations and find some really great spots to shoot in. I am so happy with the way that these sneak peeks came out! I am meeting up with Amanda again next week to get a few quick shots of her with curly hair at another location so check back next week for a few more sneak peeks! Here you go, Amanda! Columbus Parent- August Issue

Those of you that follow my Baby Steps Studios blog, probably already know this but in January I was selected to be the cover photographer for the Columbus Parent Magazine. This means that each month, I send in a few of my favorite photos that fit with their theme for the month and they chose one for the cover.

Well...this month is a back-to-school issue, so they chose a photo of Senior Rep Kaitlyn for the cover! I'm sure she was a little shocked to hear that she was selected, but she is a beautiful girl and made for a great looking cover! Maybe you have a future in modeling, huh...Kaitlyn?!?! :-)

Sneak Peek: Adam - Class of 2009

I had such a fun session with Adam this week. He was so much fun to be around and he really kept his cool in the 95 degree heat wave we were dealing with. Adam plays football for Pickerington Central so he wanted a few in his jersey that weren't the typical "guy in football gear" photos. He even put on his letter jacket for a few quick photos at Mom's request! We wandered around in the streets trying to not get into too much trouble...

We are leaving tonight to start our long vacation! We will be without our kids for 8 days so this should be interesting. It will be a nice and relaxing vacation but I'm sure I will miss the kids eventually! ;-)

Sneak Peek: Staci Marie

So, Staci called wanting to add some new photos to her modeling portfolio and get a few shots for an upcoming pageant. We have had a great time on previous shoots, so of course I was happy to help her out this time as well. We met at Blacklick Park and just played around for a while. These were not the usual modeling photos that Staci and I do so it was a fun new challenge for us both to get some good pageant shots to enter in the Most Photogenic category. In between all the giggling and silliness, we got some great shots to show. :-)

I met Brooke last week for a fun senior session at Slate Run Historical Farm. It was such a fun, new place to shoot and it fit with her personality perfectly. We all just hung out at the farm and shot away. It was nice and sunny outside but not super hot, so we got lucky this time around! Okay, Brooke...here you go!

Sneak Peek: Sylvia- Class of 09

I am excited to share these new sneak peeks from Sylvia's senior session. This girl was such a pro...she maintained her cool and looked gorgeous even in the 95 degree heat and humidity! We were all so miserable but from looking through the photos, I think it was all worth it. Sylvia is an ex-gymnast so she wanted to try to document that part of her life. I was a little worried at first since I am by no means a sports photographer but once we got started, it was so much fun! She is am amazing gymnast and just kept going over and over again to make sure that we got the shots. Here are a few of my favorites from her session. Enjoy, Sylvia!

Sneak Peek: TWIN SENIOR REPS

I am so excited to post the sneak peeks from this *SENIOR REP* session! I had such a great time shooting with these girls! Twins *SENIOR REPS* Taylor and Kaitlyn go to Pickerington Central High School and were the perfect subjects. The took direction well, had plenty of ideas of their own, and were just being themselves the whole time. Sneak Peek: SENIOR REP DALTON

Here is yet another *SENIOR REP* session that went off perfectly! *SENIOR REP DALTON* and I had a great time shooting his session. It was a little chilly but a beautiful day despite the chill in the air. Dalton did such a great job of working the locations that we chose. I kept joking with him that he must have practiced by watching American's Next Top Model! :-) Even with the muddy areas through out the park, we managed to keep his shoes (all 4 pairs of them!) nice and clean! I kept saying "Okay, just one more and we will be done" then we would stumble across another cool spot so we would HAVE to keep shooting! :-) I am still proofing his session but I pulled out a few of my favs to sneak peek them here for him. Here you go, Dalton!

Okay girls, brace yourselves! :-)

Is this guy not model material or what? I knew we had gotten some great shots while we were shooting Ty's *SENIOR REP* session last week but I had no idea how great they really were until I starting processing them on the computer. Some of these shots of Ty actually made me say "WOW!". He just has that look that says "Stop and look at me!" which is a perfect fit for my style. He did a great job on the session even though I know he felt a little out of place most of the time. He came with the best wardrobe choices full of color and personality, that the session just fell together perfectly. (I'm sure I am embarrassing Ty to death now, so I will just shut my mouth and post the sneak peeks.) Enjoy!

Can you believe it was 36 degrees outside? This girl was such a pro that she makes it look like a nice warm spring day. :-) We had so much fun during this session despite the cold weather. She is going to be a great *SENIOR REP*! I can only hope all of my senior sessions turn out as great as this one did...

Calling all Class of 2009

Okay, all you Juniors out there...I am looking for a few good kids to be reps for the Baby Steps Studios *SENIORS* division. If you are looking for a new spin on your senior photos, then this is the place to go. All of my sessions will be done on-location at (just about) any location of your choice. If you are an earthy spirit, we can shoot at a local park, at a lake, in a river, in the middle of cornfields etc. If you are more of a urban spirit, we can shoot downtown, in the Short North, the Arena District, etc. Each senior session will be completely different because we will build the session around you. This is not the "stand in front of the big '09 and pose" kind of senior photos but rather a new high fashion take on your photos. Who doesn't want to be a model for a day?

So, now that I've got your attention, you wanna hear the details of the *SENIOR REP* position? If you are selected to be a Baby Steps Studios *SENIOR REP*, you will receive a FREE mini senior photo session taking place anytime between now and April 1st. From this mini session, you will receive rep cards with your name and photo on them along with my info. You pass these cards out to all your friends...drum up some interest...and refer your friends to me. You will also receive a proof book from your session that is yours to keep along with your favorite 5 photos sized and watermarked for use on your Myspace and Facebook pages. For each friend that you refer to me (who completes a senior session), you will receive a $25 print credit towards your senior photos. Each friend referred will also get you an entry into a drawing for a $100 Easton gift certificate to be awarded in November.

If you are interested in becoming a *SENIOR REP*, send me an email with a photo and your info (including your school) and tell me why you would be a great rep. What are you in to? What makes you special? Only a select few juniors from each school will be chosen so be convincing! :-)

Sneak Peek: Yellow Springs Group Shoot

I had a wonderful time on Sunday at a group shoot in Yellow Springs. Everyone was so fun to hang out with and the models were gorgeous! It was a super chilly fall day, but the girls were troopers and braved the cold to get some amazing shots.

I had a great shoot with Ashley this weekend. She was up for anything...including my crazy styling ideas! I am so excited with the way these shots turned out. I'm sure she will think it was worth the close encounters with 3 huge spiders, an attacking goose, and a curious boy scout! ;-)

I had the most wonderful session with Katy Ann last night. She was a dream to work with! She was up for anything...and I mean ANYTHING! By the end of the session she was rolling around in the mud and floating in the lake with dead fish not 2 feet away! She was such a professional! After finishing this shoot, I am totally ready to jump head-first into the world of fashion photography! Here are a few of my favorites that I have processed so far. Enjoy!

Can you believe that this little girl is only 9 years old?? She did such an amazing job during this session. It was 97 degrees outside but you would never know it from looking at the photos. This was her first time modeling but she worked the camera like a pro! I hardly had to direct her at all. I'm sure she will have a long modeling career ahead of her...if her father lets her! ;-)
